Barnhill Community High School is excited to introduce its new House System, designed to foster teamwork, school spirit, and a healthy sense of competition among students. The school has been divided into four vibrant houses: Yellow, Green, Blue, and Red, with every student allocated to one of these teams. The House System encourages students to participate actively in school life, as house tokens can be earned for attending clubs, excelling in lessons, and taking part in form-time challenges. Tokens are collected in designated house collectors, and at the end of each half term, the house with the most tokens will be crowned the winner and receive an exciting reward.
A huge thank you to Mr Taylor and Mr C Jones for orchestrating another incredible evening filled with festive cheer. The show was a true celebration of the diverse musical talent within our school community, featuring heartfelt performances that touched our hearts and uplifting moments that had us clapping along.
Dear Barnhill,
Philip here. I have written to tell you about the news of Barnhill’s Senior Citizen’s Christmas Tea Party hosted by Year 9 Kings' Trust class on 17th December!
A huge congratulations to Shreya 7A and Gabriella 7C who enriched their study of history by using Padlet to watch exciting videos and articles on the History Curriculum. Shreya produced a fantastic poster about the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and how William won, which led to the establishment of a Norman dynasty in England. Gabrielle produced a poster on the Tudors and the religious changes that occurred during the Reformation. This is a great preview into our enquiry of 'How were people of Morebath Church affected by the Reformation?'. A big well done to Shreya and Gabriella for showcasing their passion of history. Future historians in the making!

A Major part of our study in A Level History at Barnhill is with the course "The British Empire 1857-1965" where we make an introspective and detailed exploration of the Empire that has come to define our very lives in a myriad of clear and unclear ways and of which it's effect can be seen even today. What built this empire, unlike others before it, was it's mastery of the high seas from the 1700s to the very end of the second world war which gives us the saying "Britannia rules the waves".
BM Caterers delivered a cookery masterclass tailored to our Y11 Hospitality & Catering students.
Year 10 Music students travelled to the Royal Festival Hall, one of the worlds best venues for classical music, this half-term.
Our French language students recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to see the play Prendre sa Revanche. The lively performance drew them in, with the actors bringing the story to life in an engaging and entertaining way.
Year 8s have continued their undefeated run, adding to their dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Rosedale by completing the double with a 9-0 win over sister school Hewens.
Friday 25th October saw the final day of the half term for Barnhill students, and sadly the final day for twenty exchange students from the Spanish city of Vigo.
