National Maritime Museum - Who ruled the waves?

Y9 take a trip back in mari-time

The trip to the Maritime Museum in Greenwich was very enjoyable, educational and fascinating.

It widened my understanding about the reasons why migrants come to Britain, their experiences and what impact that made. It's a great insight into what we will study at GCSE History.

It's also enabled me to learn more in history lessons as it connects so much to what we've learnt previously and what we will learn in the future. For example in Y8 we learnt about the rise of the East India Company and during the trip we got to look at artifacts and primary sources related to the East India Company.  We saw old logos from boats of the crew members and this surprised me that on the East India Company ships there was a huge diversity of nationalities.

The trip really helped to show me that our knowledge of history is forever expanding. I'm really looking forward to the exciting history curriculum at GCSE.

Many thanks to the great History department for running this fantastic trip.
