Alumni Visit - Hardip Begol CBE

Hardip was born and brought up in Hayes, attending Yeading Junior School, Barnhill School (1982-87) and Haydon School Sixth Form. He studied Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Warwick.
He spent nearly two decades at the Department for Education and his senior civil service responsibilities included: special educational needs and disabilities; reform of the National Curriculum, GCSEs and A Levels, and school accountability; and independent education and safeguarding. He was the Director responsible for integration and communities at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Earlier in his career he trained as a chartered accountant at Deloitte, was a public services consultant at KPMG Consulting and worked at the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit. Hardip was awarded a CBE for services to education in 2017.
He is currently a Board member at: the qualifications and exams regulator, Ofqual; the Oak National Academy; and the Education Policy Institute, the leading education think tank in England. He is a member of the Eden Academy Trust, which has six special schools and settings in Hillingdon and Harrow.
On his visit to Barnhill on 10th February, Hardip said ‘What a difference ... 37 years makes. Great visit to my former secondary school Barnhill Community High School this morning. From a low performing school when I left in 1987 it is now Ofsted Outstanding under the leadership of John Jones and Ben Spinks' Middlesex Learning Partnership.’
