Barnhill Community High School is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £48,500 from the Wolfson Foundation to support and enhance its performing arts provision, particularly within the Drama and Music departments.
The grant will be channelled into expanding and improving resources, including new state-of-the-art lighting equipment, professional rehearsal rooms, and performance equipment aimed at nurturing the creative talents of students. By investing in the school’s Drama and Music departments, Barnhill hopes to inspire more young learners to develop their artistic abilities, gain confidence through performance, and appreciate the value of the performing arts in a well-rounded education.
This achievement is the result of a collective effort by key members of the Barnhill Community High School team. Special recognition is extended to Mr. Taylor, Curriculum Leader of Music, for his expertise in articulating the department’s vision for growth; Mr. Pilkington, Teacher of Drama, for his passion in ensuring students have a professional stage to express themselves; and Mrs Dhillon, Data Manager, whose meticulous attention to detail and organisational support helped strengthen the school’s grant proposal.
Mr. Church, who led the process, expressed great pride in the school’s accomplishment, commenting: “Securing this funding is not only a testament to the hard work and drive of our staff, but also proof of Barnhill’s ongoing commitment to the arts and personal development of our students. We look forward to seeing how these funds will enrich our students’ educational and extra-curricular journey!”
