Lordy Lordy Lordy!
Howzat for a day out?
A group of Barnhill students from Years 7 & 8 were invited to a very special cricket tournament at Lords. Teams from different branches of the military completed in front of a select crowd of schools and members.
The day was scorching and the sound of leather on willow made it a quintessentially British summer’s day!

‘First of all, I would like to thank the school for organising such an amazing trip. Alongside having fun, we learnt more about cricket. It wasn’t just any match, the match we saw was between the army and navy men’s teams. We also got to meet and introduce ourselves to a commissioned army officer, Sgt Guy Bufton who welcomed us warmly.’
The Army hit a number of boundaries and were the stronger side both batting and fielding. The fact that the overs were limited to 20 meant the batsman had to try for runs off every ball bowled.

The students were very impressed with the ground and were made to feel really welcome by the officials, players and our hosts. Many purchased souvenirs, including mini bats and match balls which the players were happy to autograph. One lucky student was given a full size cricket bat to take home.
It was indeed a special day and we were privileged to have had the opportunity to visit such a hallowed ground.
