  • 'Build'-ing Skills

    Published 28/06/23

Students from Year 9 and 10 took part in a building construction workshop organised by Build Training Centre in Hayes.

It was a great event and allowed students to try their hand at construction work and consider its merits as a career choice.  Students rotated around different workshops including bricklaying, plumbing, electrical and tiling.

Brandon, Y11, represented everything that Build epitomises.  As a year-long student looking to take his learning further into post 16, he helped students to understand the benefits of vocational learning.

Thank you to Mrs Martinecvic for organising the opportunity and to the staff from Build Training Centre Hayes.

Selected Year 7 and 8 students represented Barnhill in a borough-wide sports event held at Brunel University on Monday 12th June. Students had to work together to earn points for their school competing against a number of other secondary schools in the Borough.

Following exceptional performances in all the activities, our students were the overall winners upholding all of our vales of community, respect, wisdom, aspiration.  Each student received a gold medal, certificate and the team were awarded a trophy.

Well done to the students who participated, Frankie, Ollie, Djibril, George, Natasha, Sara, Ryan and to Brandon who helped with the support.

Students amazing day and arrived back to school very excited to show their gold medals.

Thanks also to Mr Gardener and Mrs Hughes for organising and cheering them on.
