SHSSN Awards Ceremony 2018
An inspiring event celebrating our student across the network.
Monday 25th June saw the South Hillingdon Schools Sport Network (SHSSN) host its sixth annual Awards Ceremony at the Beck Theatre. Partner primary schools in attendance included Grange Park, Oak Farm, Hillingdon, St Bernadette, Belmore, Yeading and Ryefield.
Students were awarded in the seven Olympic and Paralympic values of Friendship, Excellence, Courage, Respect, Equality, Inspiration and Determination. Each winner was awarded a medal and received a huge round of applause from our audience of family, teachers and friends. We also saw dance performances from Yeading Juniors and 'Autism with Attitude'.
Alongside the speeches from our Barnhill students, we also received an inspiring talk from Paralympic Silver-Medalist Ali Jawad. Ali spoke about his difficulties battling not only being born without legs but also suffering from Crohn's Disease, an illness that almost stopped his career. Ali embodied all of the Olympic and Paralympic values throughout his journey and ended his speech with these words:
'It's your dream. Go and chase it.'
Congratulations to all winners and a huge well done to all of the students from Barnhill who gave speeches about these values. The event was a joy to watch and we look forward to next year's ceremony!
