Year 7 Students Scooting Towards Success
On board the VESPA Model
A number of Year 7 students have been selected for our 'VESPA' Masterclass sessions, based on their high level of attainment.
The VESPA model is used to teach students an achievement-focused approach to life at Barnhill. They are provided with academic literature which gives an insight into target setting and revision/learning strategies etc with frequent reviews of their achievement and attitude to learning.
Masterclass students have access to ‘Beyond the Curriculum’ sessions, in which Maths, English and Science specialist teachers deliver topic sessions where students get to engage with subject matter that they would not normally explore in the curriculum.
Students have also been introduced to 6th form mentors from Masterclass alumni, with most now targeting Russell group universities.
It is a very aspirational programme designed to motivate and test our most able students in a suitably challenging and engaging manner.
