A Global Experience for Y12’s
To be, or not to be, that is the question that students pondered on their trip to The Globe Theatre
Students in year 12 have just finished their studies on Hamlet which was supported by a trip to the Globe Theatre where they attended a workshop to help immerse them in the language and structure of Shakespeare.
Students thoroughly enjoyed being able to see first-hand what a 17th century playhouse would have looked like for both actors and audience and how stagecraft has been utilised by different directors in their productions over time to create certain effects.
Afterwards, students had an opportunity to hone their skills and knowledge of the text through a workshop where they had a chance to develop their understanding of the play through performance and how nuance of tone, delivery and intonation changes meaning and audience reception.
