Barnhill building on our Character Curriculum with engineering opportunities
Shell supports aspiring Engineers
Barnhill is proud to be one of the highest performing schools in maths and science and were delighted to welcome a representative from Shell to deliver a workshop with some of our aspiring engineers in KS3. Students learnt about suitable energy systems and the ways engineers are changing how we create and receive electricity and heat.
Students were tasked with creating a renewable energy source to power a mobile phone from the contents of a backpack. Students developed their electrical engineering skills to produce electricity from an orange, creating enough voltage to recharge a phone.
Students left with an insight into the industry, furthering their knowledge of the career path they may pursue in the future.
